We had the best time Sunday night. I was very excited to see the small band set-up at the front of the stage; having read that Gabe Dixon was opening some of the shows. He was terrific and I bought his CD.
We were stage right, second row, so I knew we'd get to see lots of Kenny ... they always set up their stage in about the same way (same as the 1970's, Kenny on our left, Jim on the right.)
Even more surprising was to find two good friends of ours directly in front of us, with Janie as much an L&M and KL fan as I am. We discovered that we went to many of the same concerts in our SoCal days ... including Kenny's first show after L&M broke up, at Cal State Fullerton.
We'll kick the year off with Kenny's solo shows and cruise into to the Loggins & Messina Tour beginning in August 2009! In addition to US shows and Meet & Greet memories, this gallery includes Kenny's very unique appearance in Paris, France!
In late ‘71/early ‘72(?) at age 17/18, Dave and I were roommates at NYU in the Bronx, NY. When we heard that the already “legendary” Jim Messina, would be playing with his new protegé Kenny Loggins at CW Post College on Long Island, we knew we were going to be there!
First of all the concert was tremendous, as usual. The place went nuts by L&M merely taking the stage. People like me (and I'm glad to see there are thousands like me!) appreciate Kenny and Jimmy individually, but it's obvious that the whole is much more than the sum of the parts (to use a cliche!) L&M is a special combination! We fans never forgot L&M from "back in the day" and have always been moved by the music, which has proven to be timeless.
