Kenny Loggins visited Washington, DC to discuss music education and intellectual property rights at the annual Grammys on the Hill event. Among those that attended the event were Mary Bono Mack (R-CA) and Joseph Crowley (D-NY) who started off the proceedings by singing a bit of their own version of Loggins' Danny's Song. Loggins then performed a few more of his own compositions before addressing the crowd.

In talking about music education, Loggins spoke emphatically about the American song. "Nothing speaks as eloquently of freedom than music." On the subject of music being cut from the curriculum in some schools, Kenny emphasized "Music is not a luxury, it's a necessity."
